Lyric video/non-client brief

Context

This was a personal non-client lyric video project created as a response to a track that carried deep emotional meaning.

The work was developed as an interpretive visual piece, using motion design to reflect themes of memory, loss, and emotional reflection embedded within the lyrics.

The project was not commissioned, but created as a personal exploration of how music, text, and motion can be combined to communicate emotional narrative.

Approach

I developed a typographic and motion-led visual system designed to reflect the rhythm and emotional tone of the track.

The animation focused on pacing, negative space, and restrained visual transitions to allow the lyrics and meaning of the track to carry emotional weight.

Rather than using heavy visual metaphor, the piece relied on simplicity and timing to support the emotional clarity of the message.

Result

The final piece delivered a restrained, emotionally driven lyric video that used motion design to support reflection and meaning rather than distraction.

It also received recognition from the motion design community, being featured as “Video of the Day” by Motion Design Awards
